The PWM Client Story
A decade in the life of one Phoenix Wealth Management’s clients, told in his own words. It begins on a Sunday afternoon in November, the moment he opened his banking app and realised the February bonus was not going to be enough.

what this is
Charlie is a real client of Phoenix Wealth Management. We have changed his name and a few identifying details, and we have kept the numbers — the actual income, the actual bonuses, the actual mortgage — because the point of the story is what those numbers feel like when you don’t have a plan, and what they feel like when you do.
He was forty-one when we met him, earning well, and quietly certain that something wasn’t adding up. He is fifty-one now, and on track to stop working at fifty-eight if he decides that is what he wants.
In between there is a diagnosis, eight months out of work, two children, one large mortgage and a plan that held.
what's inside
A Sunday afternoon, a banking app, and a bonus that was already spent.
Three hours in which nothing is decided, and, in which everything that mattered later was set up.
Three years in which almost nothing happens. That, in retrospect, is the point.
A Tuesday in October of year six. at forty-seven, a consultant tells him to stop working.
Eight months out, then a phased return and a permanently changed view of what an income is.
Year ten. What he would tell the man on that Sunday in November, if he could.
Each chapter closes with a short “Brendan’s View” — the planner’s reasoning at that point in the story, and what he was worried about that Charlie could not yet see.
The conversation you are avoiding is the one you most need to have.
Charlie – Chapter Six
who is it for
◆
You earn well and it still doesn’t feel like enough. The mortgage is large, the school fees are relentless, and none of it survives you stopping work.
◆
You run teams, budgets and difficult conversations for a living. Your own finances are the one thing you have never sat down and looked at properly.
◆
Not because it’s difficult. Because nobody has ever asked you the question in a way that required an answer.
Founder – Phoenix Wealth Management
Charlie has been a client of mine for ten years. The story is his; the reasoning alongside it is mine.
I’m the one who will send it to you, and the one who will read your reply. If you write back with a question, you’ll get an answer from me, not from a marketing team. If you decide you’d like a conversation, it will be with me.

The most common reason someone reads a story like Charlie’s and does nothing isn’t cost, and it isn’t doubt about whether they’d benefit from advice. It’s not knowing what they’d be walking into. So, plainly:
What does happen is that the document arrives, and a small number of other things worth reading follow it over the next month. That’s all.
Twenty minutes, and it may be the most useful twenty minutes you give your own finances this year.
